The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the importance of integrative healthcare approaches, including the use of traditional medicine for immune support, symptom management, and recovery. Across the world, traditional medical systems such as Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Unani, and herbal medicine were explored as complementary strategies alongside conventional treatment. This session at the Traditional Medicine World Congress 2026 will examine the role of traditional medicine in COVID-19 prevention, management, and post-infection care.
The session will discuss herbal formulations, immune-modulating therapies, supportive care practices, and integrative treatment models used during the pandemic. Emphasis will be placed on clinical evidence, safety, ethical considerations, and regulatory perspectives. Discussions will also address post-COVID rehabilitation, long-COVID symptom management, and future preparedness for global health emergencies. This session aims to promote evidence-based integration of traditional medicine into public health strategies and pandemic response frameworks.
